Dr. Mazen Soueid is the Chairman and General Manager of IDAL. Previously he was the economic advisor to the Lebanese Prime Minister and President of the Productive Sectors Committee of the Economic Social Council of the Lebanese Republic. Dr. Soueid holds a PhD in Economics from Brown University in Providence RI. Earlier in his career he was an economist at Deutsche Bank in London and New York and at the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC. Dr. Soueid is also a lecturer in the Economics Department at the American University of Beirut.

The handover ceremony took place between IDAL's former Chairman Eng. Nabil Itani and newly appointed chairman Dr. Mazen Soueid in the presence of new board members and the staff.

Dr. Suweid praised the efforts exerted by Itani over the past 15 years to maintain the agency in the most difficult circumstances. He also stressed the importance of promoting it to become a Lebanese success story that everyone needs.

IDAL, represented by its newly appointed Chairman Dr. Mazen Soueid, participated in the GITEX Exhibition, held in Dubai from 6 to 9 October, sponsoring the Lebanese Pavilion, which was attended by 21 startups and SMEs.
Dr. Soueid stressed out that IDAL will be the main partner of the information technology sector through various ways and means to support this sector and strengthen its role in establishing the knowledge economy and keeping pace with the continuous technological advancements.

In line with its mission to support Lebanon’s youth and increase their exposure to the entrepreneurial culture at an early stage, we have met with universities’ representatives and discussed potential means of collaboration between IDAL’s Business Support Unit (BSU) and universities and educational institutions engaged in entrepreneurship development.
