There are some noticeable differences between genders in the afore mentioned proportions. Around 79% of working women were employees (monthly paid employees or weekly, hourly or paid according to productivity) while only 55% of males were employees. Conversely, only 15% of working women were business owners compared to 42% of working men.

Around 40% of the active labor force occupies positions that require a minimum level of education and/or skills (namely legislators, senior officials, managers, professionals, technicians, associate professionals and clerks) highlighting the fact that the country enjoys a qualified labor force. The wealth of skills, expertise and adaptability has helped Lebanon rank among the most competitive business locations in the region.
