Several festivals are organized annually in Lebanon with the aim of promoting the local industry and ensuring capacity building. Such festivals include the Beirut International Film Festival, Ayyam Beirut al Cinema’iya Film Festival, Cabriolet Film Festival, the Lebanese Film Festival and Tripoli Film Festival.
The Beirut International Film Festival (BIFF) is a festival organized annually to provide exposure to young Lebanese and filmmakers from the MENA region. The BIFF covers the following sections: Panorama, International Feature films Culinary, Films on food, or food related subjects Competition - Shorts, documentaries and Feature films from the Middle East and North Africa region, including Turkey & Iran.
Ayyam Beirut al Cinema’iya is a biennial festival that features Lebanese and regional fiction movies and documentaries covering various topics from religion to war. The festival includes a Scriptwriting workshop and a Cinema platform where local producers can network with international experts. The festival also grants a financial award to a project in its development phase.
Launched in 2009 by the team of Laboratoire D’art, Cabriolet Film Festival (CFF) is the first outdoors film festival of its kind in Lebanon. The festival has since become an annual event and takes place over the course of three consecutive nights on Gemmayzeh Stairs in the heart of Beirut City.
The festival is a unique forum of exchange and dialogue between the public and the filmmaking community that brings together artists and filmmakers, champions short films and fosters networking.
The Lebanese Film Festival (LFF) was created in 2001 in order to help Lebanese cinematographers show their films, meet with their audience and acquire basic financial support for their future projects.
The LFF is a platform that enables directors to meet with producers, industry professionals, special foreign guests, the media and the public.
The Tripoli Film Festival aims at boosting the image of the city with three main objectives of (1) Enriching Tripoli’s local cultural environment, (2) Promoting the rich cultural heritage of Tripoli and its local artists and (3) Branding and marketing Tripoli and its region as a highly promising tourist destination.
